This time it’s personal

Written by: Tom Zonneveld

When I started out on my entrepreneurial journey, I told myself I was in it for the long haul. Being able to build something at my own pace, exploring entrepreneurship while trying to make a living and doing good while doing business. Not focusing on maximum profits but trying to establish a product and service to help others out. Focused on making business more fun, more practical and more accessible while discovering my added value along the way.

Really doing business was hard at times. I found out I needed serious money to make money when it comes to building a product and service and that kept me running low for a while. Low on energy and low on results. I should have just sold what I could sell, but I always believed there was something bigger to build and I kept changing along the way.

Eventually I was finding myself. Like really finding me. Doing was key I learned and when you’re in it for the long haul, good things will eventually come your way. Or not.

Feeling the real impact of current results was hard sometimes because this was not just a journey anymore, it was becoming a real business. I never thought of entrepreneurship as a career path when starting, but suddenly here I was. Having others with me along the way made establishing expectations and the impact it had quite hard to deal with at times. But who was I?

The main reason I didn’t want investors on board is this; they would have tried steering the ship. Perhaps even getting rid of its captain along the way. I was not in it for the money though, I was in it for the long haul. Learning from others and helping others out while making progress was the main goal.

Today, five+ years later, I can say I’m still in and so is my team. Not taking my “long haul” philosophy too literal anymore. I have invented myself and it’s not yet time for me to reinvent.

As a result of my experience, I want to highlight 3 takeaways of our program.

In short, we will focus on real progress and keeping track. Making sure you’re happy and healthy along the way. Doing what matters to you. With us, you come first, and the business follows.

1. The journey starts with exploring first and finding your guide along the way.
Including everyone that eventually comes on board. Making sure you can match expectations with reality. Therefore, decelerating will give you time to listen to yourself and expectations will not matter for the ambitions you have.

2. We’re supporting what gives you the energy to become who you are.
Sharing our perspectives and experiences. Not telling you what or how to do it, not steering your ship anywhere, but igniting you and helping you along. Starting with you defining your own definition of success. Giving you the time and space to grow as a person and as a business.

3. It’s all about raising your bar while keeping your feet on the ground.
We’re helping you to introduce you to your first customers. Making sure you keep focused on their needs and solve their problems, while solving your own along the way.

In the end, only your expectations are those that both matter and are in the way. Break free while joining this journey of fulfillment and gratification.

I want to be like Bob

From the way Bob Ross lived and worked, we can draw an incredible amount of lessons that we reflect in almost every phase of our E-Learning. Maybe even in the form of a “What would Bob do?” A nod to the book “What would Google do?” I have this book at the office.
